The art theft of "Poppy flowers" (1887)
The second theft occurred in Mohamed M. Khalil Museum in Cairo in broad daylight during the opening times. Although there were only about ten visitors on this day in the museum, there is no trace to the Thief.Only seven of 50 surveillance cameras were working - just as the alarm system that was installed but never went into operation.
The thief has cut the canvas from the frame, rolled it and walked out of the museum. Subsequently, two Italian tourists were arrested at the airport who were previously in the museum and behaved erratically, they went together to the toilet. However, they were released shortly afterwards.
With the disastrous security technology and insufficient Museum monitoring all museum staff were fired until there are more details on the theft. The police in Cairo holds back largely with information.
